Next Stop: The Future. Congratulations to the BSAC PhD Class of 2026!
This spring, BSAC celebrates our newest doctoral alumni and the years of grit and discovery that brought them to this milestone. From advancing fabrication to next-gen sensing, this graduating class has pushed the boundaries of the collaborative, interdisciplinary research that defines our community.
Highlighting the College of Engineering ceremony was our very own Megan Teng (from BSAC Co-Director Liwei Lin’s lab), who won a competitive audition to serve as the official student speaker for the entire COE doctoral commencement. Navigating a graduate experience defined by monumental shifts, from a pandemic to the AI revolution, Megan delivered a grounded address that brought an undeniable human heart to the stage. Her remarks reflected on the choices, uncertainty, and persistence that often accompany the pursuit of ambitious goals, and on the responsibility that comes with earning a Berkeley PhD. Reminding her peers of their unique calling, she declared:
"We are Berkeley Engineers. We have the strength to build, the hearts to care, and we are the ones who bring the light."
To our 2026 graduates: We wish you boundless success as you take your innovations into the world. We can’t wait to see what you create next!
