Experimental and numerical studies of Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers (pMUTs) were done to improve their performance. pMUT uses a micromachined multilayered membrane resonator as a sound radiating element and lead zirconate titanate (PZT) film in pMUT is mainly used as a component to drive the membranes. Thus pMUTs offer a more flexible and innovative approach to the development of advanced ultrasonic transducers. My work focused on the fabrication, characterization, modeling, and optimization of pMUTs.
